Cool stuff

Life is good.

Justin, Humbert, Biggers, John, and I have been trying to make a foam machine. Justin wants to have a foam party so we have been doing some preliminary testing on the machine.

First, we tried to blow air through a screen covered with soapy water with a fan. The air wasn't fast enough, so we got a shop vac and blew air through the screen. That didn't really make much in the way of bubbles either. So we filled a trash can with soapy water and stuck the shop vac attachment in there and turned it on. Oh, it made bubbles! But it made HUGE bubbles. In order to try to make smaller bubbles we tried other combinations of screen, trash can, and shop vac. The last one we tried gave us something like what we wanted. We put the shop vac in the water, put the screen over the can and turned it on. The bubbles that were too big were broken/stopped by the screen. The small bubbles passed through and sat on top of the screen. Sort of what we wanted, but very inefficient and also the bubbles were very wet.

Today, I made a venturi to try sucking soapy water into a stream of air in hopes of making bubbles. I think now that we will need to add a screen to the venturi, either right at the water entrance to the venturi or at the exit of the venturi. We shall see after tonight's testing.

Lastly, Dr. Midgley is REALLY starting to frustrate me. He is running out of time before his rejections of student welcome turn the students past the point of no return. Much more and he will be an enemy with no chance of return.

Excellent work with the venturi system! It rivals all the "do it yourself" foam-making systems we've found and Pike's. Thanks again for your hard work.

What do you mean "rejections of student welcome?".

-Keith

What I mean is that the student's have invited him to several activities, they have welcomed him and he has rejected those welcoming gestures. For instance, he was 'scheduled' to have lunch with the students in the ARA so we could meet him. However, he 'became unavailable' sometime ~ 1 week before the lunch was to happen. One floor on campus wanted to give him a chance so they scheduled dinner with him. The day of, the RA in charge of the dinner recieved an email that he would no longer be able to attend. He appears to have no interest in the students, even when we take the first step. That's what I mean he has rejected students welcome.
